SLAVE ROUTE TOUR
Ghana was at the center of the infamous Trans-Atlantic trade which captured Africans taken on an arduous and lengthy journey all the way to the coast from the north. Along the paths were markets, bathing points, and cells, and this tour seeks to unravel some details on the way. This tour will take us first to the Assin Manso Slave River site, where enslaved Africans had their last bath in African waters before being held up at the slave dungeons along the coast in wait for “shipment.” The site has also become the burial ground for the remains of three enslaved Africans from the USA, Jamaica, and Barbados who were brought back to their ancestral home through the “Door of no Return” at the Cape Coast Castle. We will continue to embark on a comprehensive tour of the Cape Coast Castle Built by the British in 1665. We will Return to Accra after lunch.
